Information for our new 6 week session is now up! Sunday classes start on February 24 in Newton Lower Falls and Monday classes start on February 25 in Boston (near Fenway Park). Both locations include a class in Beginner Swing/Intro to Lindy Hop Level 1, appropriate for anyone starting out as well as those with some experience who are working on building a solid foundation of dance skills. Six count basics will be covered along with a variety of fun steps to build your repertoire and get you out on the dance floor!

Lindy Hop Level 2 is also offered in both locations. This class is for more intermediate level Swing dancers, although no prior Lindy Hop experience is required. Eight and six count basics will be mixed along with a variety of classic Lindy Hop, newer variations, and a focus on partnering, technique, musicality and building skills.

For intermediate to advanced Lindy Hoppers, we have a new class titled Charleston, Rhythm & Connection. The focus in this class will be on taking some classic Charleston moves and using rhythm patterns and partnering to spice them up. Adding new rhythms is an excellent way to work on musicality. Partner connection is what makes it happen with momentum and flow. This class meets on Sundays in Newton.

If you have any friends interested in getting into dancing, lessons are a great way to get started. Please pass on the info!

Beantown Camp: June 27-July 4

It is never too early for making summer plans, especially when it is for the awesomeness of Beantown Camp! This will be #17 and everything is coming together for something pretty special!

Many details are on the website and new information is being added daily. The registration section is being reworked, staff additions are in the process of being confirmed, and the schedule will certainly have some tweaking as well as class details to be added.

Skye & Naomi Lindy Hop Workshop Weekend: Nov 29-Dec 1

Skye Humphries & Naomi Uyama will be back for our 6th annual Lindy Hop weekend with these 2 incredible instructors. Plus it wouldn’t be the same without Gordon Webster, so of course he’ll be back as well. It’s a can’t miss combination! Details will be available later this year.

Plans for Beantown Camp 2013 are well under way! This will be #17 and everything is coming together for something pretty special! This year camp runs from June 27 to July 4th and we will be back on the beautiful Endicott campus on the shore just north of Boston. Although the general format will be similar to last year, there are some schedule and activity changes and additions to ensure maximum fun and awesomeness!

The new registration format seemed to work well last year with the ability to register for Beantown separate from the housing and meal options.

New for this year will be the procedure for organizing the Lindy Hop tracks, with the majority of placements determined through an audition process. It is an ever-changing process with the intention to create the most ideal groups based on who attends each year.

We’re really looking forward to our first Uptown Swing dance of 2013, which will be next Saturday, January 19 in Brookline at KI, our new very fabulous venue! This month features the always entertaining and energetic Sax Gordon Band. It has been too long since we have had Gordon at our dance and we’re excited for a very fun night. Let’s make this dance a wonderful welcome to all the new beginners who are starting the new year with dancing!
