Fall has come in with a huge roar for us here at Hop to the Beat as we have a lot of new things going on!

New Lindy Hop Swing Class Session
We have really been enjoying our new classes in Boston as well as seeing many students back at our Newton location. It is always exciting to get a new season of classes going and we welcome all the newcomers into our friendly Lindy Hop community and hope it has been fun so far! Please spread the word to your friends and bring them out dancing.
Our next 6 week session will be starting right after the current one finishes. Although we really don’t want to be thinking of winter being on its way, this will actually be our last class session of 2010. New classes in Beginner Swing/Intro to Lindy Hop Level 1 and Lindy Hop Level 2 will again be offered in both Newton Lower Falls starting Sunday evenings on October 24 and in Boston on Monday evenings on October 25. Both locations are conveniently accessible by car or T with free parking available. It will be possible to make up missed classes at the alternate location and some people have taken advantage of that this session.
Also coming up we have a new class for intermediate to advanced Lindy Hoppers on Understanding Lead/Follow Connection. We’ll be exploring ways to improve and expand connection skills as well as creating subtle differences in the lead and how follows can determine ways to react. Other topics include using connection to create variations out of basic moves and adding direction changes, turns and embellishments. This class will meet on Sundays in Newton.
After classes on both Sundays and Mondays, all students are welcome to stick around for some practice time.

Skye Humphries & Naomi Uyama Lindy Hop Workshops
Please join us for a weekend of Lindy Hop workshops with Skye and Naomi on November 26 to 28. There will be classes for all levels in both our Newton and Brookline locations. Uptown Swing will be on for that Saturday with the phenomenal Gordon Webster, accompanied by the multi-talented Naomi Uyama on vocals. Now that is a special treat! This is our 3rd year in a row for hosting this amazing combination of Skye, Naomi and Gordon!

Uptown Swing Dance
Uptown Swing is our monthly dance catering to Lindy Hop, Swing, Balboa and Blues. Our next dance is on Saturday, October 16 and features the return of the always fabulous Toni Lynn Washington Band!
