Big Band Swing

Beantown Swing Orchestra

The 18-piece Beantown Swing Orchestra specializes in the performance of vintage Swing Era and Sinatra classics as well as popular and original songs custom arranged for big band. The music of the Swing Era (late 1930s to early 1940s) was created specifically for dancing, with its characteristic and infectious Swing beat and exciting horn arrangements. Most of the BSO musicians and songwriters/arrangers are in their twenties and play with the energy and drive to keep everyone moving on the dance floor.

Mike DiBari

Led by guitarist Mike DiBari, this tight knit combo hones in on the classic guitar driven Swing of the 30’s and 40’s. Their sound derives from guitar stylists such as Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt and Les Paul, while also paying tribute to Swing era greats such as Lionel Hampton and the King Cole Trio. This band has played to rave reviews and continues to get better with each appearance at Uptown Swing.

The Love Dogs

Holiday Swing Dance Party

The Love Dogs have been playing for Swing dancers for many years with their high energy mix of Swing, Jump Blues and New Orleans style R&B. They are often adding to their repertoire of both original and covers and provide a great variety of fun tunes that are made for dancing. Here are just a few remarks from the critics:

“The party vibe recalls Louis Prima’s band with Keely Smith and Sam Butera, but with modern flourishes and funkier sensibilities.”

Toni Lynn Washington Band

Toni Lynn Washington

Toni Lynn Washington started her career as a Jazz singer when she was a young girl. Her Mom took her to clubs in Boston and she would get up and sing with the band. Eventually she added Blues and over the years she has been nominated for multiple W. C. Handy Awards, widely regarded as the highest honors for Blues artists in the U.S. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful talent here in Boston and are thrilled to have Toni Lynn Washington back for an excellent night of Swing!
